More Harmony & Justice For All

Mmmmm. Mmmmm. You’ve probably made that sound when you ate something that was really, really good to you. It’s very likely that you just couldn’t help yourself. The sound arose and emitted itself without your express permission. It was so honest and true that there was no need to put a harness on it. Just let it rip. Slow and easy or hard and fast. No matter the speed. It was pure, unadulterated good. Mmmm. Yaaaassss. You’ve very likely had that same feeling on the dance floor or when you were listening to some music that you loved or when you got a good massage (but only if the massage therapist was a trusted friend). It’s the kind of feeling that we’d like to recreate on a regular basis. Some psychologists call it flow and say it’s one of the secrets to happiness but you didn’t need research to confirm this for you. At Life in 4-Part Harmony, that good inside feeling is Harmony. But we don’t want to limit it to an inside experience. It’s important that we create a world where each person can experience good, do good and be their best. Practicing Truth, Order, Balance and Reciprocity is also a formula for Justice. These principles help us build a world where all people are treated with fairness and have equal access to resources. Here are some ideas for how we can create more Harmony and Justice for all!

Harmony is the stage where complexities and simplicities dance to the same rhythm.

~Dr. Sandra Y. Lewis

We are busy people doing our thing, okay doing our things, everyday. We may like the simple pleasures but we can also get into some complex situations. We crave those moments when it seems everything is working in order and there’s a good balance of ups and downs or ins and outs. We look for ways to stay in our rhythm no matter whether it’s an up, down, simple or complex time. That’s called Harmony. Here we experience how the daughter, brother, runner, diaper-changer, yogi, entrepreneur, sister, gardener, broker, father, CPA, mother, executive, kickboxer all fit in the same body. We are connected to the truth that our life has meaning and purpose. We can see order despite seeming chaos. We balance our energies, knowing when it’s time to exert and when it’s time to rest. And we are grateful. We see that when we are fully who we are, we also create the space for others to fully share themselves with the world. We remember ourselves as important parts of the universal web. We find joy in being who we are and doing good in the world. Reciprocity becomes tangible as we recognize the inextricable link between giving and receiving. Can you hear the music? Do you taste your special flavor? Let yourself FEEL THE HARMONY AND DANCE TO YOUR HEART’S CONTENT.

Fannie Lou Hamer is among those awe-inspiring icons that remind us ordinary people create extraordinary social change. Ordinary people take the extraordinary steps necessary to make our world better. We are the ones who make the world better for now and for tomorrow. How? When we honor the truth that our spirits chose to inhabit our bodies so that we could bring good into the world, we also recognize this very truth in others. It becomes easier to see that we are all a part of a whole that’s designed to create a better world for all beings. This awareness stimulates our minds and hearts to take on a mission that helps to make fairness a part of our natural order. We find the balance revealed in the African proverb, “I am because we are. Because we are, therefore, I am”. Thus, I know that as I give to you, I also receive. In this scenario, sharing resources is the only logical option because as one thrives so does the other. It’s an example of reciprocity at it’s best. Take a moment. Think of it. When you give, you receive. This is how WE CAN CREATE LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.
