Build Your Dreams One Moment At A Time

We are just a few days away from another New Year’s Day. I love the feeling of opportunity that fills this time of year. It’s energizing.

Two years ago I decided that I would look for the good in every challenge. This practice has been more than a blessing. There’s no way to measure the benefits to my peace of mind and my increased ease in dealing with difficulties.

Earlier this year, I extended this practice to my thoughts about my future. I chose to believe that everything that happens in my future happens for my good. I’m still getting the hang of this one.

Sometimes I get so focused on the to-do list that I lose the big picture. In these moments, I’m in “doing and making things happen” mode. I lose touch with my trust that every thing works for my good. I feel a drop in my mental and emotional energy.

The easiest and quickest fix is a mindset shift. I get back to envisioning that my future holds good for me. I take time to feel what that’s like.

I mean I really allow myself to feel it. It may take a day or so but I’m able to reconnect with my sense of ease and flow.

The more I practice feeling that my future holds good for me, the more confidence and courage I find. It becomes easier to believe that my efforts to build my dreams will unfold ever so perfectly.

As we approach the year’s end, can you embrace the idea that your future holds good for you? Can you imagine that whatever shows up in your future is there for your good? For your prosperity? For your growth?

In January of 2016, I tried something new. I chose three words for the year. They represented goals. But more than concrete things, I wanted to create experiences that warmed my heart and nurtured my spirit.

I highly recommend this practice for the New Year. Follow these steps.

Decide how you want to feel in 2017. Even if you have specific things you want to achieve, think about how you will feel once you have them. For example, if you want a promotion or to expand your business, think about how that achievement will make you feel.

Choose 1-3 words that capture how you will feel once you accomplish your goals. Do you want to feel ease, satisfaction, freedom, fulfillment or peace? Choose words that touch your heart and spirit.

Then each day give yourself time to practice those feelings. Let yourself know ease, freedom, satisfaction, fulfillment or peace.

Notice how this practice boosts your mental, emotional and spiritual energy. I’m guessing you’ll feel a physical energy boost too.
